Gardena, CA (April 4, 2002) — University of Nebraska Medical Center / Nebraska Health System introduces State-of-the-art e-consultations and Second Opinion programs to facilitate worldwide transmission of electronic medical information, images, interactive diagnosis and "real-time" consultations in cancer care, transplantation, ENT, Orthopedics, and other medical specialties.  This sophisticated communication technology enables UNMC/NHS specialists to receive, within a matter of minutes, patient reports and histories, pathology slides, x-rays, and other radiological images for analysis from locations worldwide. International physicians and patients may also choose to consult with UNMC/NHS specialists through real-time video conferencing technology which facilitates instantaneous consultation with their physicians on diagnosis and patient care. Second Opinion Professional will be used to facilitates the acquisition, management, and communication of the medical information to and from UNMC/NHS.
