Second Opinion Professional Version History
Second Opinion
Professional has gone through many improvements thanks to feedback from
our customers. This
is a partial list of some of the improvements that were made in past
versions.

Added in Version 3.7
Sound Clip Capture
Add-In Preview
You can now record sound clips directly into a folder without having
to import them. This is a preview version of the Add-in.
Consultation and
Referral Add-In Preview
You can now create and fill in a Referral form; send that form to one
or more remote sites; and have the remote site fill in and return an
associated Consultation form. This is a preview version of the Add-in.
Digital Stethoscope
Capture and Conferencing Add-In Preview
If you have a digital stethoscope connected to your computer, you can
now record that data and store it into a document associated with a
folder. You can play back that recording anytime as well as send it to
other sites (as long as they also have a matching stethoscope). If you are
using the conferencing features of Second Opinion, you can also broadcast
and receive that sound live over a conference. Depending on your network
performance, there may be a delay of several seconds. This is a preview
version of the Add-in.
Added in Version 3.6
Private lookup data
fields
The Examiner, Referral Hospital and Referral Physician fields in the
Demographics Information Add-in now store separate values for each site.
The Referral Phone Number is also automatically entered based on the
Referral Hospital. When upgrading, existing values are automatically
associated with the site matching the Database Id.
Shared network
annotations
If two or more users open the same image in the Image Viewer over a
shared network, they can see each others changes by turning on the
"Shared Network Annotation Changes" command in the
Communications menu. This option is off by default to conserve network
resources.
Added in Version 3.5
Image Viewer
Interactive Conferencing
If the same document is open by two or more members in a NetMeeting
conference, any annotation, zoom, calibration, or active document changes
are reflected to all conference members. To open the same image for all
conference members, click on the new "Send Update to All
Members" button. The document and folder will automatically be sent
to any member that does not have it.
Added ARCHIVE right
This right (or the ADMIN right) is required to use the Archive
program.
Database Integrity
Check
The Professional Administrator program now checks the database for
integrity before doing cleanup operations and informs the user if any
problems were found.
Added in Version 3.1
Removed Folder
Browse Functionality
The ability to change the current folder using the Browse commands has
been removed. This feature was of questionable benefit since all folders
can be reached using the Folder Listing dialog box. Eliminating this
feature greatly improved usability and reduced both internal and user
complexity.
Added Communications
Toolbar
All communications functionality can be accessed through the new
Communications toolbar.
General Interface
and Setup Improvements
Many additional improvements to the interface and application setup
were made, including adding a Site Information tab to the Preferences
dialog box.
Added in Version 3.0
Added Email and
Export
Documents can now be exported or sent using email to any other
computer running Second Opinion Professional. PLEASE NOTE: The Second
Opinion Data (SOD) files that are created by Second Opinion Professional
are currently not compatible with the Second Opinion Group (SOG) files
created by Second Opinion Standard.
Added Datagroup
Identification
Every shared installation of the Second Opinion database is now
assigned a unique Datagroup identifier. By default this identifier matches
the Site identifier of the first site installed. This identifier allows
Second Opinion to determine when data is created outside of the database
and imported (through email or communications). You cannot edit records
that are sent to your datagroup from a different datagroup.
NetMeeting
Conferencing Support
Second Opinion can automatically start Microsoft NetMeeting. When a
conference is established with one or more remote computers, you can
select one or more documents to be sent to those computers. PLEASE NOTE:
This is a technology preview feature; it is not fully supported and is
subject to change.
Added Archive
Program
A new archive program allows you to copy or move selected folders from
the Second Opinion databases to a separate archive media, such as a disk,
CD-ROM, or tape backup. This enables you to back up selected records or
free up disk space.
Added in Version 2.5
Improved Locate
Folder Method
Listing of folders in the Locate dialog box now only occurs when you
click List, and only items starting with any text you have typed are
listed. Also, the listing occurs in the background so you can continue
working.
Improved Document
Thumbnail Listing Performance
The document preview images in a folder are now loaded during a second
pass so that you can continue working while it is doing so.
Improved Site and
User Management
Each individual site that uses Second Opinion over a Wide Area Network
(WAN) and shares the same database, now needs an entry in a new site
database. Users can be easily defined to belong to a specific site by
selecting the site from a list. Use the Professional Administrator to
define sites and users.
New Second Opinion
Video Capture Component
The new video capture component supports capturing both still images
and digital video clips. We recommend a fast computer (Pentium II or
better) with a large, fast SCSI hard drive if you intend to capture
digital video clips. Most new capture cards that have Video for Windows
drivers should work with the new Second Opinion Video Capture component.
Hardware Key No
Longer Required
The hardware key that previously shipped with Second Opinion is no
longer used. Once version 2.5 has been successfully installed, you should
detach it from your computer. A copy protection system that does not
require the key is now used. To secure your system from unauthorized
access, use the Second Opinion Administrator to define users and their
security settings.
Many Internal
Changes
Many Automation interfaces have been added or improved, and internal
data management has gone through several improvements.
