What's New in
Second Opinion Standard 4.0
Second Opinion Standard
version 4.0 introduces some great features that make it
easier to use, capable, and secure. This
is a partial list of new or improved features:
User Login Security
You must now log in to use Second Opinion. If the
program starts in Unattended Mode, the login is not
required until you return to normal mode. Users can only
perform actions for which they have security rights.
Hardware Key No Longer
Required
The hardware key that previously shipped with Second
Opinion is no longer necessary. A copy protection system that
does not require the key is now used. To secure your
system from unauthorized users, use the Second Opinion
Administrator to define users and their security rights.
New Second Opinion
Administrator Program
The new Second Opinion Administrator program is a
separate tool that can be used by system
administrators to configure Second Opinion and define
user security settings.
Improved Data
Encryption
Data sent over a direct modem-to-modem link with a
remote computer is now encrypted. The encryption used for
creating Second Opinion Group (SOG) format files (such as
those used for email attachments) is now much stronger.
New Digital Video Clips
The new Video Capture component in 4.0 supports
capturing both still images and digital video clips.
Added Sound Clips
Sound clips can now be included in a patient folder.
New Archive Utility
A new Archive utility allows you to copy or move your
patient folders to a separate archive volume. This lets
you back up or remove your documents to make room on your
hard disk. You can create the archive on any removable
drive as well as prepare it to be burned onto a
recordable CD-ROM.
Windows NT 4.0 Support
Second Opinion now recognizes when it is running
under Windows NT 4.0 and adjusts accordingly.
Communications Error
Recovery
If, while transferring a large document, the transfer
is interrupted or stopped, when the transfer is resumed,
Second Opinion will continue from the point it left off.
Improved Unattended
Mode
Entering Unattended Mode automatically logs off any
current user. You can exit the mode by logging on or
exiting the program. If you exit the program without
exiting Unattended Mode, the program will automatically
start up the next time in Unattended Mode.
Mixed-case Support
Most entry fields can now use both upper and lower
case letters.
Support for Additional
Measurement Units
You can now choose to display measurements in
millimeters, centimeters, inches, or micrometers. The
setting can be picked in the Instrument tab of the
Options dialog box.
Sort Patient Folders by
Creation Date
The Open Patient dialog box now supports the option
to sort the list of patients by creation date.
Site Modem Number
Override Available
You can now override the automatically generated
number used to dial a specific site. This is useful if
the number calculated by the program is not correct (such
as allowing for special long distance codes). You can
also choose to always dial the area code to support area
code overlays.
Ability to Sort
Frequently Used Values
Move Up and Move Down buttons have been added in Customize Field
dialog box.
