INFO: Pictures don’t look good

Document ID: Q101001

This article applies to the following:
Product(s): Second Opinion Standard, Second Opinion Professional
Last Revised On: April 24, 2001

Summary

Images displayed on the computer monitor show poor color quality.

Discussion

There are several factors that contribute to the quality of a picture.

  • Make sure Windows is running in high color (65,535 colors) or true color (16 million colors). We recommend running in a resolution of at least 800x600.
  • Adjust the brightness and contrast settings of the monitor. If you are using an older monitor, it may have faded or lost its color balance.
  • The quality of the original image was poor to begin with. This may have been the result of improper capture settings.
  • Viewing conditions. The lighting in the room you are in can greatly affect the viewing quality.

Second Opinion Standard

You can temporarily change the appearance of the image in Second Opinion Standard by adjusting the brightness and contrast from the Enhance menu. However, these changes are not saved with the image.
