HOWTO: Move Second Opinion to a new or upgraded computer
Document ID: Q101011
This article applies to the following:
Product(s): Second Opinion Standard
Last Revised On: October 20, 2010
Summary
This document lists the procedure to follow
when upgrading or replacing the existing operating system (OS) in a
computer where Second Opinion is installed. This procedure assumes that a
standard, stand-alone installation of Second Opinion was performed in
C:\OPINION.
Discussion
Upgrading Over Existing OS
No special procedure is necessary. You may
have to reconfigure or reinstall the video capture board's software.
Using Reformatted or New Hard Drive
On the original installation:
- Ensure that Second Opinion is correctly
installed. Note the version number (3.0, 3.2, or 4.0); if you are
using a version prior to 3.0, please upgrade to 3.0 before continuing.
- Create a backup copy of C:\OPINION to a
separate hard drive or network drive.
On the new system:
- Ensure that you have the 3.0, 3.2, or
4.0 full install disks (not the "Updater" disks).
- Install the new OS.
- If you have a video capture card, follow
its instructions in installing its software.
- Install a new, clean copy of Second
Opinion from the full installation disks matching your original
installation.
- Ensure the new installation works
completely - the modem and video capture card work (if any).
- If necessary upgrade/update the
installed copy to match the version on your original installation.
- Copy the contents of the backup's
OPINION\IMAGES directory (or OPINION\DOCUMENT, if it exists) to the
newly installed C:\OPINION\DOCUMENT directory.
- Copy the contents of the backup's
OPINION\DATABASE directory to the newly installed C:\OPINION\DATABASE
directory.
- Run Second Opinion and again ensure
everything is working. Create a patient folder; capture, save, and
re-open an image.
Second Opinion is now installed. We suggest
you keep the backup copy for as long as possible in the event of any
problems.
