INFO: Size restrictions of Email attachmentsDocument ID: Q101022 This article applies to the following: SummaryWhen you send one or more documents from Second Opinion as email attachments, you need to be aware of any maximum size restriction imposed by your network service provider. DiscussionThe average size of a typical uncompressed Second Opinion image captured from a video device (640x480x24 bit color) is 1 MB. Using the default compression (Visually lossless) the same file will be approximately 100 KB. Images that are scanned in or imported from other sources (such as radiology files) can be much larger or smaller. Other document types, such as video clips or sound clips can reach several megabytes is size. Whey you send one or more of these documents from Second Opinion using email, the program will gather all of the selected document files as well as the database information into a single, encrypted file and send that file as an email attachment. The size of the attachment will be more than the combined size of the individual files (because of the additional database information). The size limit of email attachments is set by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), in the case of home users, or by the IS department, in the case of larger institutions with their own email servers. The following is a list of known size restrictions for six of the larger ISPs in the United States:
